According to technorati.com, 175,000 new blogs are created every day. And those bloggers, new and old, supposedly update their blogs regularly at the rate of over 1.6 million posts per day. Technorati has done the math and this translates into more than 18 updates a second.
In that number, are scores, if not hundreds of new blogs created by lawyers. Perhaps those lawyers who have way too much time on their hands or are otherwise frustrated English or Journalism hacks who feel the need to feed the writing beast. And so, at the risk of being squashed among the millions of blogs ala “Mr. Bill,” then “Oh, no!!”, here comes yet another blog. (As an aside, like the distinction between ‘lawyer’ and ‘attorney’, it seems to me that the distinction between ‘blog’ and ‘blawg’ is likewise one without much difference. Yes, I know one of the things prompting a touch of the satiric and sarcastic is to gore those self-important oxes in the profession who subscribe to needless distinctions to further differentiate themselves from those who they deign the great unwashed – – – that is, the masses of non-lawyers unable by surfeit of licensure to add the suffix “ESQ.” to their rear ends).
The purpose of this blog, then, is to lend distance and perspective to the practice of law by irreverently ruminating on its flaws, foibles, and foolishness and by discussing life, culture and by generally afflicting the comfortable. Lawyer jokes are to be found elsewhere. God knows there are enough of them proliferating on the worldwide web. And so it begins. . . .
